Carat weight: 1 carat = 200 milligrams = 6.5 mm diameter. Doubling weight doesn't double diameter.
Diamond clarity: FL/IF/VVS/VS = super expensive, near perfect. SI = best value if you can check a photo for obvious inclusions (defects).
Color: D-G = colorless, expensive, only if you have money to burn. H-J = best value. Can go lower in gold metal settings than white metal.
Cut: Better cut ratings let more light into a diamond, making it sparkle more. Very important property, don't skimp here.

There's going to be a little price hike to get the VS1 clarity grading for this diamond instead of getting a VS2 diamond, on top of the cost that comes from getting a diamond in the colorless range.

This diamond's $2540 cost is a substantial investment for a lot of people, but it does lead to a nicer and bigger stone than if you spent a few hundred bucks. If you look at this 0.63 carat stone and think to yourself, "that stone is too small", consider whether you can compromise by lowering another property such as color or cut in order to go for a larger diamond. Usually VS1 clarity diamonds are the most affordable "safe" clarity grading for purchasing online without seeing the diamond - although a lower clarity grading is possible you need to see a good quality photo showing the diamond to analyze the defects for yourself.
