Quick and Easy Buying Guide

Carat weight: 1 carat = 200 milligrams = 6.5 mm diameter. Doubling weight doesn't double diameter.

Diamond clarity: FL/IF/VVS/VS = super expensive, near perfect. SI = best value if you can check a photo for obvious inclusions (defects).

Color: D-G = colorless, expensive, only if you have money to burn. H-J = best value. Can go lower in gold metal settings than white metal.

Cut: Better cut ratings let more light into a diamond, making it sparkle more. Very important property, don't skimp here.

Set a budget and minimum cut (Premium). Go J color for gold and I/H for white metals. Go searching for SI1/SI2 clarity diamonds at James Allen. Pick a diamond with small/no inclusions. Choose a ring setting and buy it risk-free (60-day returns).

Searching for a 1.14 Carat F Color VS2 Clarity Ideal Cut Round Cut Diamond?

This F color diamond is a colorless diamond - you should still be cautious of comparing it with other "F" color diamonds that have been assessed in one of the dodgier grading laboratories - what GIA calls an H may be called an F by them.

Several diamond sellers will provide an Ideal cut diamond cut grading, and these diamonds are usually (as is the case here) perfect in terms of proportions and the overall shape. The difference between any adjacent colors from the D-E-F color range can only be detected in a specialist laboratory environment, meaning this F color diamond is indistinguishable when compared with diamonds rated one color either side of it. In analyzing the $8850 price of this diamond, put in some thought into whether you need all the properties to be as good as they are.

The carat weight of this diamond is 1.13 carats - but make sure you check out the other diamonds for sale with a similar 1.13 weight which might have a more desirable combination of properties and price.
