Quick and Easy Buying Guide

Carat weight: 1 carat = 200 milligrams = 6.5 mm diameter. Doubling weight doesn't double diameter.

Diamond clarity: FL/IF/VVS/VS = super expensive, near perfect. SI = best value if you can check a photo for obvious inclusions (defects).

Color: D-G = colorless, expensive, only if you have money to burn. H-J = best value. Can go lower in gold metal settings than white metal.

Cut: Better cut ratings let more light into a diamond, making it sparkle more. Very important property, don't skimp here.

Set a budget and minimum cut (Premium). Go J color for gold and I/H for white metals. Go searching for SI1/SI2 clarity diamonds at James Allen. Pick a diamond with small/no inclusions. Choose a ring setting and buy it risk-free (60-day returns).

Selected for You: 2.23 Carat F Color VS1 Clarity Ideal Cut Round Cut Diamond

F color VS1 clarity - what else could you want? I don't think so unless you're super fussy, although perhaps a lower price, as there is an increased cost associated with getting such nice qualities found in this stone.

Take note of this diamond's girdle description - "Thin to medium" - and if you don't know about girdle thickness, go have a read of my girdle thickness article. To the naked eye, this F color diamond standing alone appears pure white - there isn't a way to detect traces of color in it utilizing just the naked eye and no other nearby diamonds, or to differentiate it from others within the colorless range.

Several diamond sellers will provide an Ideal cut diamond cut grading, and these diamonds are usually (as is the situation here) perfect with respect to proportions and the overall shape. VS means Very Slightly Included - this VS1 clarity diamond contains some smaller inclusions that may or may not be easy to see under 10x magnification, but rarely visible with the naked eye - although it can happen on the odd occasion. In analyzing the $41270 cost for this diamond, make sure you consider whether any of the property qualities are excessive for your needs. The carat weight of this diamond is 2.23 carats - but make sure you look for the other diamonds for sale with that same 2.23 weight that might have a better combinations of properties and price.
